Leadership
Alex Georgouras is a registered landscape architect and founding director of Studio Georgouras, an emerging practice based on Gadigal Country in Redfern. He is also a member of the NSW State Design Review Panel, contributing to the evaluation of projects of state significance and supporting design excellence across New South Wales.
His work spans design, strategy and advisory roles, with a focus on retrofitting urban environments and reimagining existing systems to support adaptive, inclusive and ecologically abundant futures. With over 15 years’ experience across public and private sectors — including major infrastructure and city-shaping projects in Sydney and internationally — Alex leads projects that respond to climate change, biodiversity loss and social inequity through nature-based design and cross-sector collaboration.
Studio Georgouras is known for Sky Parks, an award-winning rooftop retrofit initiative that transforms grey infrastructure into productive, community-led green spaces. Developed with support from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, the project was featured as a case study in the Biodiversity in Place framework by the Government Architect NSW.
His practice delivers work that bridges long-term strategic thinking with on-the-ground implementation — from public realm frameworks and civic landscapes to small-scale pilot projects.
